Yesterday mathrubhoomi TVm edition carried two pieces of news that provoked me. Both info graphics. In one a large tree was axed to save the collectorate TVm and the other axing of a tree that decided to fall over a parked car, with an undertone of safety as a reason for cutting etc… It amazes me that no plant scientist in the state working in the universities, forest service, or autonomous research centers in Kerala ever came up with the scientific metric to decide the removal of a tree that gave shade. Also in a state like Kerala the universities and colleges produce the largest number of plant post graduates among all the science pgs. All of them learned Darwinism professing youth, mature and old age stages of living plants. But surprisingly these minds seemingly has no clue yet as to when axe a tree when the below ground roots are incapable of holding the beast up and safe… I will call this detachment from the mainstream of life. In a cocoon phase for ever.
