Sitaram in a meeting at kozhikod lamented about the role of caste equations in electoral process in Kerala. It is a bad omen. Unfortunately the beauty of the leaders mind is that it ignores the ground truth when making declarations or exhortations. This is one such. In fact the caste institution is as old as the Indian culture in any form one can define. The upper caste and lower castes were created for the benefit of both. The lower poor needed the upper, and the upper needed the lower for various purposes including errand and foot massage. In the republic it is undergone further subdivisions by including a wealth class with all caste divisions. Two y ago I was in a small town in ap for some foot work. I walked into an office to gather some dats. The first question that faced was are you a Brahmin. I answered I am Sudra to see a nod from the other side of the desk. Go to any part of the republic, you will always come across directly or indirectly some reference to caste. So mr Sitaram it is wonderful to make comments about the cAste ridden society But in reality when u are in the home town one will be hounded by the icons of caste divisions. I may add that in Kerala it is the least and has a very low amplitude. Our youth in denims and leggings alone can rewrite the indelible caste equations. That is the reason that all the leading parties fought the Kara bye election and fielded up caste Nair candidates to catch the Nair vote. Many may disagree. When it comes to elections in Kerala the choosing of candidate is based on the caste mood of the constituency and no egalitarian outlook.
