Regarding tree service again. Trees planted on the road right of way need ban. This is a hangover from raja days. Thanal marangal, vazhikinarukal, etc. those days people hardly moved out of villages. The motor car fueled trips to far off. The trees then became a menace. No developed country has shade trees beside the motor ways. Yesterday itself two buses collided with wayside trees and injured several scores of people. Do we ever worry about the economic loss by these tragedies. Unfortunately the scholarly mind of Kerala never can decipher the hidden layers of loss due to such accidents. So the motor ways authority abroad fixes flexible side guards and standards for lighting with material that will collapse on hitting by a speedin car and not killing the passengers. Our forest service bosses learn this but never practice it as their life is secured for ever by the hapless humans who pay taxes and maintain the babudom. For some reason even after the third gen Indian mindset is from raja days?
