Thrivikramji.com | I was in the sessions of kufos sponsored national conference on blue economy etc. there was a session on the non renewable resources. Victor, chandrasekaran, nagender nath , sudhakar, Kk Ramachandran and I spoke. My message was that mineral resources, especially very expensive and essential metallic minerals, industrial minerals and rock and rock products are wasting assets and non renewable. All that one could do is follow policies proposed by m I t and Canadian mining assn to implement a new paradigm to minimize energy, water, use and also air pollution. And share portion of the profit for the sake of affected communities. Finally relandscape the scarred land due to mining and quarrying. Very few in the audience agreed to these and wondered that there could be new some approach to reduce the harm. Perhaps this mind set is due to all too familiarity of the practiners mindset that perhaps carried away by gandhijis slogan…not for greed but for need. Gandhiji also did not have any vision of demographic changes taking place in this century…
