I was going thru the book on departments of the university that covers faculty, courses for 15-16 etc. when I closely looked at the course no in geology dept I had a pleasant and cool surprise. The Css or choice based semester system was introduced in the dept in the kariavattom campus when the vc was j v vilanilam. He had organized several meetings ar kariavattom campus. Some teachers or status quo it’s opposed the Css. For a good reason I was representing the geology dept. and the first meeting I sat was slated for identifying the course names and numbering. I proposed GOL 501for the msc level courses in the four semesters. Or else all course numbers starting with 501 meant a grad or msc level course. Three credits meant a three one hr sessions weekly etc. even today that pattern stays and each subject is identified by a three alphabet Identification. When you look back the path walked thru was quite exciting….
