Now cwrdm officially opposes m-sand as it will cause water shortage. But unfortunately they shut their ears and eyes to the question of alternative to msand, a critical input in the construction sector. The cwrdm like organizations should also ready with scientific solutions for msand. Otherwise I do not find any difference between science of cwrdm and our environmental groups who oppose everything connected with development. Development is infrastructure like, housing, sanitation, drinking water, electricity, transport and communication, education and health care.
All these unfortunately would use of huge volumes reinforced concrete which is msand and metal or coarse and fine aggregates.
Unfortunately the suggestion of cwrdm is very unpalatable to the general welfare of the keralites who is still out side of the benefits of development.
Gujarat became what it is today primarily because of the Narmada dam which was fought by medha bhatkar and co. Luckily, the apex court had long term vision and future of a state and its people.
We need to be above emotions and sentiment. So the cwrdm need to come out with concrete reasons for their drought paradigm if msand is around.
