The state and the republic celebrated the world environment day in a fitting manner.
In Kerala as usual there were meets and tree planting. One picture in mathrubhoomi daily showed poetess sugathakumari in the act of planting a sapling.
The foot note read pure water, pure soil and pure air are the urgency of the time to secure a good life for the commoner.
No doubt. A good sounding slogan. But the trouble is the second most populous country in the world, our republic is a welfare state. The administration need to worry about assuring three meals, a place to sleep and schools and hospitals.
Unless we work with technologically and scientifically with nature it will be nearly impossible to provide the meager comforts to commoner. Luckily the prophets of green have carved out a good life for eternity. But what about the people on the left side or below 50% of the median in the histogram or frequency curve.
Unless we bring in technology driven agriculture and energy from modern techs the nation might face great difficulties unlike the others with a smaller load of population. So sloganeering is ok but will not ensure essentials to the first fifty percent of the population.
