Iduki reservoir is lucky in many respects. Last year it was mr Joseph irrigation man in the GoK who made Iduki shine in the name of mullaperiyar. The agony then was Iduki over topping and causing deluge down stream all the way down to kochi north. This year mr varun from heavens is the root cause of uncalm nights. Focal point is Iduki dam.
Eb o Kerala is focused on Iduki and manual lifting in case the electrical lifting of sluice gates dod not work.
Interestingly Iduki dam has no provision for letting the water go. This can happen only in the saddle dams or smaller dams.
As the rains are waning the shutters will never be opened to regulate level in the reservoir.
Yet the eb is importing 500 mw in the eves to,meet the peak. Look at the paradox.
So Iduki is about to vanish from the news feed. But will be back in summer….
