I saw clip on the well water in wayanad this morning. No one in the state propagates the concept of a typically safe well for the state.
What is needed is a safe well design. Which shall include an awning or roof over the well to prevent sunlight shining into the water surface or well walls on any time of the day. What we modeled is a half hygienic well instead. This halfway mindset is unique to malayali.
The cover or roof will prevent any photosynthesising plant growth on the well walls or on the water pool. This shall remove all the organic life inside the well that will lead to harm the water qualit in the longer run.
Even the kssp which once dominated the mindset of majority among the thinking public , did not understand the science of providing roof over the well.
I am sure unless, world bank or UNDP comes forward with this proposal the new model will not form part of the official design .
