31 Jan A great walk of nearly five decades after earning a PG Degree in Geology.
This day in jan 2004 I retired from my active service in the dept. o geology, univ. of Kerala. It was a rewarding job in all senses. Students research, thesis work, some degree of univ. politics, some struggles, excitements and son. The tenure kept me unquestionably in the youth or at best mature state. The one lesion learned is the job had kept me young at mind as I was surrounded by young men and women aspiring to make it good in their own life and work. I stated teaching at a rather very young age. Say from first week of jan, 1966. Then by third quarter I was out of that guest lecturer slot, when a regular came in. But destiny had it that I rejoined sort of on 18-3-68 to teach again and so went the rest of the years, with long or short breaks to study at Syracuse, in MSD T CESS, post doctoral at PFU, Moscow, at WSU, Wichita, Ka. Also at EMRC, Poona.
Indeed a golden trail to trek on with a good deal of pride and practically no regrets.
Well that is the it is my days in the U o K at Kariavattom.
On my getting out, I worked for CED, then to MSU, Tirunelveli, then back ti my own home out side my home in the university of Kerala for about two years on a UGC award. The call of duty took me to Univ. of Calicut to do a DPR for A department of Geological Sciences- till now a nonstarter. Finally now in CED to continue my scholastic activities. A great walk of nearly five decades after earning a PG
Degree in Geology.
