19 Feb Coastal Zone Hazards: Kerala
The 570 km long shore line of Kerala, inspite of the 93 km long high coastal land is very much vulnerable to coastal erosion in the SW monsoon season, Added to this there are occasional and surprise threats of erosion and disruption of life due to storm surges. Now the most potential threat is out of climate change induced sea level rise. Due to the very nature of coastal land resources, there is a need to develop a management plan to save the investments and people.
